In November 2024, Jonny Huntington will embark on a unique and arduous journey to the South Pole from the continental shelf of Antarctica, a distance of over 900 km. He will do so alone, with no support or assistance, and in doing so, he will become the first ever disabled person to solo the South Pole.
Fewer than 50 people in history have soloed the South Pole. This will be a world first for a disabled explorer.
In 2014, when serving as an Officer in the British Army, Jonny had a brain bleed which caused complete paralysis from the neck down on his left side. Following extensive rehabilitation, discharge from the army and with immense determination, he returned to the world of elite sport as a disabled athlete, competing for GB as a para-Cross Country skier.
ACRE Capital will be supporting Jonny on his journey prepping for and undertaking the expedition, including an Ultra Marathon in Lapland in the build up!
